Thomas E. TAYLOR, Former Tappan Manager, Dies. Thomas E. TAYLOR, 81, formerly of 537 West Fourth St., retired Tappan Stove works manager died at Essex Junction, Vt., following a heart attack Monday evening.
Born in Mansfield, Feb. 21, 1879, he had lived here as a youth and after living in Detroit and Canada, he came back to Mansfield in 1916 and became associated with the Eclipse Stove Co. and later with the Tappan Stove Co. During World War I, he designed the rolling kitchens which were extensively used in battle areas. He retired from the Tappan Stove Co. in 1940.
An active member of the Central Methodist Church, he formerly taught in Sunday School Class at the church and was the founder and organizer of the Jonathan Glee Club of the Church. A veteran of the Spanish American War, he was adjutant of Camp 17, United Spanish War Veterans.
Surviving are his wife, Mrs. Lottie TAYLOR; two daughters, Mrs. Fred CASTOR of Cincinnati and Mrs. Guy AVELLON of Mansfield; three grandchildren; one brother, Glenn W. TAYLOR, of Mansfield and one sister, Mrs. Foster DISE of Akron. Funeral arrangements are being completed by J. H. Finefrock and Sons.
